President's Report
(Seminars and other major events held after 15th
October 2007)
FICCI organised a two-day Higher Education Summit
on "Innovation for Quality & Relevance"
on November 2 & 3, 2007 at FICCI, Federation
House, New Delhi. The Event was supported by Ministry
of Human Resource Development, Government of India
and UK as the Partner Country. The special features
of the Summit were Conference, Exhibition and
B2Bs.
The aim of the Summit was to bring
together educationists, policy makers and corporates
to define a road map for accelerating policy change
and growth in Higher Education to establish India's
leadership in Knowledge Economy.
The Hon'ble Union Minister, Ministry
of Human Resource Development, Shri Arjun Singh
delivered the Inaugural Address and Lord Chris
Patten, Chancellor, Oxford University, UK leading
a delegation of 72 UK Universities delivered the
Keynote Address at the Conference. There were
about 500 delegates participating in the Summit
from both national and foreign Universities, with
presence of countries like USA, Singapore, Canada,
Australia, Nigeria and Sudan. 70 national and
international experts from Academia, Government
and Corporate shared their views followed by extensive
Q & A Sessions. Recommendation emerging from
the discussions will be presented to the government.
Exhibition of leading national
& international Higher Education Institutions
was organized at the conference venue where 28
Universities and associated organisations exhibited
their products and services. More than 1000 school
children from 23 schools from the NCR region visited
the exhibition and were counselled about new career
prospects and educational
One-on-One meetings were
organized where about more than 100 Indian and
UK Universities participated.
